Karen (Bandy) SandersAugust 19, 1951 ~ June 19, 2017 (age 65)
Karen Sanders, 65, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at IU West medical center after a battle with cancer. She was born on August 19, 1951 to the late Donald and Florence Ruth (Freeman) Bandy. Karen was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis. She was very active in the VFW Post 1587 Women's Auxiliary. Karen was very passionate about her career at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Karen enjoyed to dance and sing; especially karaoke. She loved her cats and gardening, sewing, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Karen made up a song for her grandchildren that she would often sing them called "The Grandma Song". Karen was known to sing this to kids she didn't even know in the stores. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, previously listed, and one daughter, Samantha Sanders. She is survived by one son, Donald Sanders (Julie), two daughters, Schleana Clemons ( Marcus), Christina Sanders, one brother, Dudley Bandy (Cynthia), two sisters, Connie Hall (Don), Corey Jones, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Karen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, July 1, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM with the Memorial Service at 6:00 PM
