Lester Ernest Rees
August 17th, 1935 – July 5th 2017
A passionate husband of 59 years, father of three and a Marine to his final sleep.
There's no severed ties as Lester passed, family, friends and acquaintances alike will live on taking with us the best of Lester. Each of us will live with a part of this man as he offered much to many. Lester's a man that not only found a silver lining in bad situations, he helped others find it as well. He lived life as an example to others. Never complaining of his issues or aches or pains, yet encouraging others to accept his help with theirs.
Lester lived sleepless nights and uncharted days as he insured his wife of 59 years lived her final months with as much comfort and dignity as possible. No man could love a woman with a passion that he had for Annie Jo. His mental and physical stamina were nothing short of heroic. Lester only found out just days after her passing that he also had stage four cancer. And yes, he found the silver lining in this news as well. And still he never gave up.
As we move forward in our lives, let us all try to remember the things Lester gave each of us and pass it along to others so that they might do the same. For it is his compassion that can live forever through each of us.
His last words were, “There is no secret of life! It's all a lie! Ya just can't have any room in your heart for hate!”
A memorial service will held July 19, 2017 at Indiana Memorial from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The service will be at 6:00 PM
