Marilyn Ruth (Olson) PearsonJanuary 17, 1931 ~ June 2, 2017 (age 86)
Born in Rockford, IL; Marilyn Ruth Olson on January 17th, 1931 to Olof Olson of Malmo, Sweden and June J. Lewis Olson of Belvidere IL... Marilyn was the middle child born to the Olson’s, following Andrew and preceding Joanne. The Olson’s owned and worked the Chas. Stiles Farm in Belvedere, IL until 1952.
Marilyn graduated from East High School in Rockford in June of 1948. Even though she had received a scholarship to study Swedish in college, Marilyn did not pursue further education. Marilyn worked various jobs until marrying Alfred “Bud” Pearson on July 10th, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV.
Bud and Marilyn moved back and forth between Colton, CA and Rockford, IL until September, 1962 where they took up residency in Santa Paula, CA. They had one son, David born September 1964. They resided in Santa Paula and Ventura, CA for the next 32 years until 1994.
During that time Marilyn mainly worked at two places, Becton Dickenson, in Oxnard, CA and Raytheon in Port Hueneme, CA for almost 30 years. She did assembly and parts work, mostly on the 2nd shift.
When her and Bud retired in 1994, they purchased an RV and traveled for the next seven years. In 2000, they followed David and his family to Indianapolis, IN. Marilyn moved to Avon, IN when Bud passed away on February 3rd, 2006. They had been married 54 years. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2010 and succumbed to the diseased on June 2nd, 2017 at Brooke Knoll Village in Avon.
Her interests included Coin and Stamp Collecting. She and Bud liked Country Music, fishing and traveling our National Parks like Yellowstone, and visiting Bull Head City, AZ and Branson, MO.
Marilyn was preceded in Death by her parents, Olof (1976, age 81); June (1987, age 92); Siblings Andrew (2007, Age 78) and Joanne Tharp (1995, Age 60). Husband Alfred (2006, age 76.) She is survived by son David Pearson of Avon, IN and Grandson’s Alexander Pearson and Gregory Pearson of Indianapolis.
