Michele Dee “Punky” Starbuck, 71, of Denver, CO, formerly of Paris, Illinios, died at 11:29 a.m. Thursday, September 28, in Avon, IN, following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 13, 1946, in Paris, the daughter of Oakley Woods “O.W.” Starbuck and Nadine Lucile Howell Starbuck.
A 1964 graduate of Paris High School, Ms. Starbuck was one of three cheerleaders who survived a deadly collision when returning from a tournament ballgame in March of that year. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University.
During her career, Ms. Starbuck was a teacher, then served as President and CEO of the Search Party, Inc., which she founded. She recently retired for health reasons.
Preceding Ms. Starbuck in death were her mother, father, and a sister, Jacqueline Kay Starbuck Maguire.
Survivors include a daughter, Jessica Hayes; a son, Patrick Hayes; and granddaughter Maeve Hayes, all of Denver, CO. Other survivors include two nieces, Sheryl Skinner Greene of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Theresa Skinner Harris of Cumming, GA.
A gathering to celebrate the life of Michele Starbuck is planned for Saturday in Indianapolis. Condolences may be sent to Patrick Hayes, 3701 E. Mississippi Ave., Denver, CO 80210. Memorial donations may be made in her name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
