Nancy Jane Owen, age 77 surrounded by family, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 6th.
Nancy married her high school sweetheart, William R. Owen, Sr., and she and Bill recently celebrated 60 years of marriage in April. Their faith, love, and commitment was a foundation and example to their family.
Born to Malcolm "Mac" and Mary Jane (Vickroy) McArthur, she was the second oldest of six and was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Malcolm "Mal" McArthur. Nancy graduated from Speedway High School, class of 1958, and worked at Grande Florist in Speedway. She was in the real estate business for 33 years where she worked side by side with her dad for 25 years at McArthur Realtors selling real estate throughout Speedway. During that time, she was recognized for million dollar sales and served as secretary on the board for the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors (MIBOR). Nancy also sold real estate through Graves Realtors and finally in her own business, Owen Real Estate which became Owen Real Estate and Auction Services under her and Bill. Nancy was a member and attended Speedway Christian Church for 70 years; for the last several years, she was a member at Chapel Rock Christian Church, Indianapolis.
Nancy leaves a legacy of love evidenced through her family which survives along with her husband Bill and includes four children - William R. Owen, Jr., (Maureen) of Avon, Derek E. Owen (Karen) of Indianapolis, Rebecca J. Crow (Jeff) of Indianapolis, and Jason R. Owen (Amy) of Danville, as well as eight grandchildren - Elizabeth Hammond (Casey), Stephanie Adams (Kevin), Natasha Brown (Robert), Michael Owen (Sara), Katie Owen (Tony), Jacob Crow (Molly), Amy Cobb (Brandon), and Alyson Owen, and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings - Ann Hayes, Melinda Woods (Lowell), Ellen Mutzl (Ron), and Michael McArthur (Mary Jane), Janet McArthur, Sally Price, and Vickie Philpot.
A memorial service will be held at Chapel Rock Christian Church in Indianapolis on Wednesday, May 17th with visitation at 6:00pm followed by the service at 7:30pm. In honor of Nancy's love for people and desire to always help those in need, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Salvation Army of Indiana 3100 North Meridian Street, c/o Memorials, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
