Barbara Jean Hembree

March 18, 1941 ~ January 13, 2020 (age 78)


Barbara Jean Hembree went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2020. She was born on Tuesday March 18, 1941 in Tacoma, Washington to Dorothy Ganske Householder & William (Roy) Householder.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Dorothy Frances (Ganske) Householder Coburn, her dad, Loris James Coburn, her birth father William LeRoy Householder, and her sister Virginia Lee McElroy who passed on October 27, 2019.

She graduated from Chittenango, New York High School. She married G. C. Hembree of Clayton, Georgia in 1963 and divorced him in 1968. They had no children. She was a dedicated State employee giving 19 years of Service to the Indiana State teacher’s Retirement Fund as a retirement specialist. She worked an additional 10 years at the Indiana Historical Bureau retiring in 2002. She loved reading, movies, travel, nature and writing. She was a published poet. She loved new things whether learning new facts, myths or just unusual and interesting. She loved her travels overseas, her home, her cats, & prided herself on her independence.

She is survived by her Sister Deloris (Coburn) Wuertley (Ken) of Avon, IN, an Uncle Vernon Ganske of Flagstaff, AZ, 4 nieces, a nephew & many cousins.

She will be loved & missed as long as her family & friends exists. She is forever in Our Hearts.

In following her wishes, no viewing is to be planned and she is to be cremated.
