Brett Matthew Sawyers, 55, Indianapolis, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, April 7, 2019. Brett was born to Dick and Jackie Sawyers on December 12, 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jackie Weedon, and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Sawyers; fur-baby Reggie; sons Austin Smith, Alex Smith (Maria); grandson AJ Smith; father and stepmother Dick and Judi Sawyers; stepfather Rick Weedon; sister Dawn Koepper (Doug); stepsister Stacey Collins (Tom); stepbrother Todd Stark; nieces Amanda Koepper and Brenna Collins; nephew Nathan Collins; uncle Harold Jackson; aunts Judy Hanlin (Jeff), JoDee Lawson (Chris); Brett adored his many cousins and was “Uncle Brett” to some. Brett was the son-in-law of Robert and Carolyn Collins and brother-in-law to Sean Collins (Tammy).
Brett, a graduate of Whiteland High School, loved being a husband, watching the Colts, having pool parties and working on many home décor projects. He was proud of their home and loved entertaining family and friends.
Brett always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. He helped everyone and never complained. He loved being a dad, son, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend; but most of all being “pop pop” to their grandson, AJ. He loved being with family, singing Karaoke (and was great at it), traveling and just having a good time.
His main job was at Lowe’s in Greenwood, and his other job was being a team player with Kelly at The Voice. He enjoyed hosting their Car Nutz cruise-ins and mingling with all of the car guys.
He is loved and greatly missed by all whom he touched.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 11, 2019 starting at 4:30 p.m. Special prayer at 6 p.m., at The Vineyard Community Church, 512 S. Madison Ave., Greenwood, IN 46142.
