Charles M (Chuck) Keenan, 78, Indianapolis, passed away October 20, 2019 in Zionsville. He was born on May 9, 1941 in Providence, Rhode Island to John E and Ann (Reardon) Keenan who preceded him in death. Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife M. Carol (Foley) Keenan. He is survived by sons, Timothy (Jeannie) Zionsville, IN; David, Chicago, IL; Michael, Indianapolis, IN and daughter, Eileen, Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Evan, Maxwell, Wyatt, Sophia & Padraic. Other survivors are his brother Jack Keenan of Worcester, MA and Maryann Dietz (Pat) of Cooperstown, NY as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chuck grew up in Worcester, MA and was a 1959 graduate of Assumption Prep where he played basketball. He was a 1965 graduate of The College of the Holy Cross where he played basketball his freshman year. After college Chuck joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent, serving in Memphis, TN and Indianapolis, IN. After leaving the FBI he founded Keenan & Associates, a private investigation and security company.
Chuck was very involved in the community and his profession. He and Carol volunteered for numerous charities, especially those dedicated to breast cancer causes. He spent 10 years as a Trustee of the Community Foundation of Boone County. He was a founding member of what is now the Zionsville Youth Soccer Association. He was also a founding member of the Indiana Association of Professional Investigators. He loved being a member of the White River Yacht Club.
He adored his 5 grandchildren and would drive to any location, in any weather at the drop of a hat to attend their events! He loved to travel all over the world with Carol, especially spending time at the family beach house in Misquamicut, RI. Sports was a huge part of Chuck’s life and he was a die-hard fan of the Boston Red Sox, Holy Cross Crusaders, Purdue Boilermakers, Indianapolis Colts, St. Benedict Prep Bengals & Herron High School soccer and any other sports team his grandchildren or nieces & nephews were part of!
Chuck never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. He will be missed greatly by family and friends.
Friends are invited to call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday November 8 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46240. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday November 9, 10 a.m. at St. Pius, immediately followed by a graveside service at the Zionsville Cemetery.
