Hugh “Larry” Sloan, 75, of Clayton passed peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019. He was born on August 18, 1944 to Cecil and Lola (Lewis) Sloan in Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lola (Lewis) Sloan, sisters Mildred Louise Hunt and Lila Dean Martin.
He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca Lau-Rie (Moore) Sloan, son Larry (Tiffany) Sloan, daughters Samantha (David) Lawrence, Jessica (Kris) Harmless, his three grandchildren Lau-Rie , Elle and KJ, his brother Carlian Sloan, niece Lisa Sloan, his beloved four legged companion Lexi Korn, along with many extended family and friends.
Larry was a devoted husband to Becky, a loving Dad to Sam, Jess and Larry and the most dedicated PaPaw to his “Bean”, “L-Bear” and “Little Man”. Larry worked as a Pipefitter for General Motors and retired in 2006. Larry was diagnosed with gastric cancer in 2012 and battled the disease off and on for seven years. While his mind was strong and determined to fight to the bitter end, his poor body could not endure any more treatment. Prior to his cancer diagnosis he enjoyed gardening and piddling in the yard. In his free time, Larry could be found at whatever sporting event his grandchildren were involved with at that given time. Some of his greatest joys in life included watching his children and grandchildren grow up. He enjoyed spending time with Becky and going for walks with Lexie Korn.
Larry was a private man and we will honor his wishes. There will not be a service of any kind but we welcome you to share memories and stories in the guestbook.
