Jack Sweeney Sr.September 19, 1935
Jack Bruce Sweeney, Sr., aged 82, went to heaven on October 8, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Ann (Wells), four children, Debra Villarreal (Mike), Cindy Carlson (Ted), Jack Bruce Jr. (Karen) and Steve (Lisa); 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter B. and Dorothy May Sweeney and his grandson, Luke Koehler.
Jack graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1953, attended Butler University, and served in the Army. He was retired from Indiana Bell/Ameritech after 28 years and worked at Old Oakland Golf Club for the last 25 years. As his family moved from Speedway to Indian Lake and then to Pendleton, he was deeply involved as a Deacon and Elder at Woodruff Place Baptist Church, Oaklandon Christian Church and Fall Creek Christian Church. Jack was active in many community organizations including the Indianapolis Landlord’s Association and the Indian Lake Improvement Association.
There will be a viewing and calling on Friday, October 13th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Fall Creek Christian Church in Pendleton, IN. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with a burial service at Crown Hill Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Fall Creek Christian Church.
