Roderick Woodford

November 14, 1955 ~ August 2, 2015 (age 59)


Roderick Woodford, also known as “Ruck” was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 14, 1955. He was the sixth of nine children born to the late Wade Woodford, Sr. and Mildred Williams-Woodford.

Roderick attended Indianapolis Public Schools sixty-three, sixty-six and Shortridge High School. As a young man he received a certificate in heating and cooling. He later received a degree from Ball State and also attended Martin University.

Among various job, Roderick was employed at Indianapolis Drum Company. He also worked as a laborer for Local 120.

Roderick professed a belief in Christ and joined St. Paul Baptist Church. He was baptized in the spring of 2011. He loved his church family and enjoyed being part of St.Paul.

 Roderick was very tidy.  He kept “creases” in his jeans and kept his surroundings neat.  He also had beautiful penmanship.  He was helpful, in that he would come over and help out.  If you needed work done at your house, “Ruck” was there.  If you needed help moving, “Ruck” was there to help.  He was also a pretty good cook.  He enjoyed all sports, especially basketball, football and baseball.

On August 2, 2015, Roderick departed this life at the age of fifty-nine years.  He was preceded in death by his father and three siblings.  Those left to cherish his memories include his mother; Mildred Woodford, brothers; Wade Woodford, Jr. (Mary), and Derrick Woodford, sisters; Clotilia Turner (Dennis), Beryl Moore (Johnnie), and Bernita Woodford, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, a great-great niece, three great-great nephews, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church; on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be at New Crown Cemetery.
