Shirley A (Murphy) Parr, 78 of Indianapolis passed from this world on Friday April 27, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 14, 1939 to Thomas J. and Evalyne C. (Huddleston) Murphy of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Shirley lived a good and wonderful life, one that was full of many great events and people. She was a high-spirited woman, devoted Christian, belonging to the Berean Baptist Church. Her life was spent as a mother and wife to her family and a Christian woman raising a family. She married Herschel Parr on December 31, 1968, what a wonderful way to start a family and a new year. They started the family and cared deeply for each other. They shared many wonderful time camping in tents cooking on the fire, eating s’mores, looking into the stars in the heavens. She enjoyed taking vacations at Las Vegas seeing the lights and Clearwater, visiting the beach. Also had a moment to visit Grand Ole Opry and was able to meet Dolly Parton. She also had a passion to see live music and enjoy fair foods along with the different country shows, one of her favorites was lemon shakeups. She also had a sassy streak with an Irish temper, but that never stopped the family from sharing all the moments in life.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Thomas J. and Evalyne C. (Huddleston) Murphy, son Daniel Murphy, and sister Jo Anne Gloss.
She is survived by her loving husband Herschel Parr of Indianapolis, 2 daughters Julie (Gary) Bruce of Indianapolis, Christine (Brian) Sterrett of Indianapolis, 2 sisters Linda Murph of Florida, Badonna Pearl of Indianapolis, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and many friends and extended family.
She is missed by all who loved and knew her.
Celebration of Life will be held at Indiana Memorial, April 30, 2018, from 5 pm – 7 pm, and service at 7 pm.
