Wayne Gene Houpt, 86, of Speedway passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019. Wayne was born on July 29, 1933 in Shelburn, Indiana to the late Harold and Helen Houpt.
Wayne was in the United States Army and served in the Korean conflict from 1953 to 1955.
Wayne worked at Allison Transmission for forty-one years, retiring in 1992.
Wayne treasured his time with his family, enjoying many get-togethers. He enjoyed gardening and watching sports. He was also an avid fisherman.
Wayne is survived by one brother Philip (Mary) Houpt; four children, Terry (Cindy) Houpt, Kevin (Carol) Houpt, Pamela (Eric) Randles and Valerie (Ian) Smith; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Houpt, of sixty years; one brother, Edward Houpt, one sister Shirley Houpt and his parents as previously listed.
Wayne will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Conkle Funeral Home in Speedway. Visitation hours will be from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. with a service immediately following.
