Audrey C. Baker (nee O’Leary), 89, of Plainfield, Indiana, passed away on August 23, 2020, after a prolonged illness. Audrey was born in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada on March 30, 1931. After graduating from high school, Audrey attended St. Joseph Nursing School in London, Ontario, where she met her future husband, Paul. In 1960, the couple moved to the United States. They settled in Speedway, where they raised their five children: Mike, Paula, Greg, Kevin and Kelly. Audrey and Paul were long-time foster parents, specializing in the care of infants, many with significant health problems. Later Audrey operated a licensed day-care center in her home, again specializing in children under the age of a year. Audrey is preceded in death by three of her children: Mike Baker, Kevin (Theresa) Baker, and Kelly (Clay) Dougherty. She is survived by Paul, her husband of 68 years, two of her children, Paula (Mike) Sauer and Greg (Jill) Baker, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Audrey will be cremated. A celebration of life mass will be held at St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield, on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., with viewing during the hour immediately preceding the mass.
