Bruce Lahne Schnabel

May 18, 1950 ~ October 25, 2021 (age 71)

Bruce Lahne Schnabel, loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away peacefully on Oct 25th, 2021, at IU West Hospital surrounded by family.  Bruce grew up on the east side of Indianapolis and met his wife, Ida, of nearly 49 years at the age of 22.  A devoted family man, Bruce loved nothing more than spending time with his kids and grandkids.  He could fix anything around the house and took pride in doing things himself.  His favorite places to visit were Disney and Vegas, and he and Ida took countless trips to both.  Upon his retirement from Yellow Freight at age 57, Bruce enjoyed volunteering his time fostering rescue dogs and working to help shelter dogs, most recently with Misty Eyes Animal Center.  He loved puzzles, Sudoku, reading, watching movies, drinking coffee, walking his dogs, and traveling with family.  Bruce had a heart of gold, and a personality that was as loud as his voice and laugh.  He will truly be missed.

Bruce is survived by his wife Ida, son Nick (Dana), daughter Margaret (Matt), grandsons Bradan, Will, and Tate Schnabel, brothers Brent Saunders, Brad Schnabel (Monique), and sister Beverly Turner.  Bruce was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie (Eads) Schnabel and father Lawrence Schnabel.
