Cheryl Ann Smith, of Speedway passed away December17th, 2020. She was born in Denver, Colorado on January 8th, 1948 to parents Oscar and Dorothy (Edwards) Miller.
Cheryl graduated from Speedway High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Education from Ball State University.
During her high school years, Cheryl was active in many high school activities including singing in the prestigious Noteworthys Choir and several school musicals. She had a secret admirer at Speedway High School who was fond of saying that he always knew he would marry her someday. That someday came and she and her husband, Lloyd (Kent) Smith were happily married for 43 years.
Cheryl worked as an Information Technology representative at Anthem Insurance in Indianapolis before retiring in 2016. She was respected for her professionalism and was well liked and popular with her coworkers.
Cheryl enjoyed needlework, reading, bible studies at her church, and going out with her friends for lunch. She was a very good singer and an accomplished piano player. Cheryl loved to travel and although she and Kent could not travel as much recently, it never dampened her enthusiasm for learning about interesting new places and travel destinations. She was so proud that she and her husband were able to visit the Holy Land twice.
Cheryl was a very active and devout member of Chapel Rock Christian Church. She loved to engage in various church activities with her husband Kent and their many beloved church friends. Cheryl was a loving, kind-hearted woman with a soul filled with unbridled optimism and firmly anchored in her faith. She had written down a note with a saying that obviously held special significance for her:
“Hope is hearing the music of the future. Faith is to dance to it”.
Such is how Cheryl lived her life. She will be missed by all.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Lloyd (Kent) Smith; sister Kathy Fields (Don) and brother Jim Miller (Tina).
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Dorothy (Edwards) Miller.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park North on January 5th, 2021 at 1PM. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park North Cemetery.
