Donna Sue Musser DeMint, 76, wife of Harry (Wayne) DeMint of Poneto, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Born May 31, 1944, in Decatur, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Harry Musser and Edith Stucky Musser.
Donna spent her early childhood in Lake Wawasee and moved to Garrett in the first grade. She was a cheerleader from 8th grade through 12th grade and a member of the high school band through 11th grade. She graduated Garrett High School in 1962. She attended International Business College in Fort Wayne from 1962-1964. She earned her associate degree from San Bernardino Valley College, in San Bernardino, California in 1994. Donna enjoyed working various jobs outside of the home, but her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife and mother.
Donna married her high school sweetheart, Harry, on March 15, 1964. Together, they built a life that took them across the United States and back. Many friends have been made in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Florida, California, and Oklahoma. They returned to Indiana in 2007 where they have enjoyed being able to spend time with family and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her father Harry Musser in 1978; her mother, Edith Stucky Musser in 2010; and her sister, Sondra Musser Kolbe in March, 2020.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Harry; her son, Thom, and daughter-in-law, Cathy, of Thonotosassa, Florida; her daughter, Tyanne, and son-in-law, Chad Palmer, of Churubusco, Indiana; and her daughter, Terrie, and son-in-law, Jorge Perez, of Brownsburg, Indiana. She is also survived by ten grandsons: Matt (Danielle) Meehan, Anthony (Amanda) DeMint, Clinton (Katie) Meehan, Steve (Claire) DeMint, Bob (Caitlyn) DeMint, Billy Palmer, Matt Palmer, Jordan (Abigail) Palmer, Jorge Perez, III, and Christian Perez; and one granddaughter, Victoria Perez. She is survived by six great grandchildren: Bayley and Brayden DeMint, Lillian and Lucas DeMint, Madeline DeMint, Mason Meehan, and a great granddaughter due in February 2021.
She will be missed by her numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Garrett High School Cheerleading Boosters or Running Strong for American Indian Youth at www.indianyouth.org as a “Pay It Forward” gesture in honor of Donna.
