Obituary

Gail Ann Johnson, 65, Indianapolis, IN passed from this world on Sunday, May 3, 2020 with her beloved daughter by her side.  She was born Sunday, July 4, 1954 to George W. Sr. and Roxie D. (Pack) Johnson at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

Gail attended IPS School 34 and Emmerich Manual High School but chose not to finish high school for her own reasons, instead waiting to pursue her High School Equivalency along with her sister Sharon in 1993. Gail enjoyed working at various companies, recalling particularly fond memories of times as an employee of the Bank One cafeteria in the Fletcher Trust Building and as a dispatcher for Metro Taxi. After ending her work career, she dedicated her time to caring for her adoring mother and family. Gail was a devout Christian and amazed many with her incredible memorization of Bible verses. Her passion for the Lord inspired her to return to school and earn an Associate’s Degree in Religion in 2016. In her last years, she was most often found spending time with her granddaughter, who she called her greatest joy in life.

She was preceded in death by George W. Sr. and Roxie D. (Pack) Johnson, brother George Glenn Johnson, brother Robert W. Johnson and sister Sharon L. Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter Amanda Nicole Bass, brother George W. Johnson Jr. (Brenda), sister Carolyn S. Cochran (Don), granddaughter Della, nephew Paul M. Poteet and many extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service is expected to take place later this summer.

She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
