Rick Dean Furgeson 65 of Whiteland, passed from this life on Saturday May 29, 2021, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born in Franklin Indiana on Friday October 28, 1955, to Esker Gilpin and Sue Furgeson Roy.
Rick retired from Midwest Steel Rule & Dye. He was a reserve with the Johnson County Sheriff and with New Whiteland Police Department. He had been a dispatcher, jailer, and a road officer. For over five years he was with the Johnson County Animal Shelter and was the warden for three years. Rick was a proud man and he loved God and His country. A Patriotic man who tried to enlist during Desert Storm to fight for his country however, his health would not allow him to join. He loved to fish, and his fishing buddy was his great grandson, Steven.
Rick is survived by his wife Mary (Christmas) Furgeson, a son Jason Singleton of Whiteland, a daughter Robin (Robert) Napier of Trafalgar, a brother Arlin Gilpin of Kentucky, a sister, Tammi Anderson of Franklin, two grandchildren Jessie (John) McClain and Shelby Napier and two great grandchildren Steven (his fishing buddy) McClain and Jewel McClain. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday June 5, 2021, at the home of Jessie and John McClain, located at 697 West Street in Whiteland, starting at 11:00 AM. There will be signs and balloons up.
