Ronnie Eugene Utterback passed on January 9, 2021 on his 69th birthday from complications due to COPD. For those of you who knew him he was a very superstitious man, and, in some cultures, it is believed that if you pass on your birthday it indicates you have fully completed your God-given earthly mission. How fitting for a man who would give and do anything for someone in need. He always lived his life from the heart!
Ronnie was born on January 9th, 1952 in Indianapolis to father, Carl “Dale” Utterback and mother, Shirley Utterback. He attended Ben Davis High School. Ronnie met Archa Kay Utterback when they were just in elementary school. They would ride bikes together and stir things up around Mars Hill with all the other kids. They married in July of 1971. They have been best buddies for over 60 years…
Ronnie and Kay have 2 children: Chris and Brad. He devoted his life to his wife, children, grandchildren, and family and loved nothing more than to help others. He always looked forward to vacations with the family to the Smoky Mountains and Myrtle Beach and seemed to transform into this relaxed, cool beach dude during these times. His true happy place. His infectious laugh and joking around with all the grandkids were always fun to watch. They all love Grandpa Ronnie so much! Before he began his fight against his own disease, he had spent the prior decade or so being care giver to his parents and did it in an unbelievable, caring way. His parents must be so proud of him! We all are!
Ronnie is survived by his sister, Donna Craft; 2 sons and spouse, Christopher and Cheryl Utterback, Brad Utterback; and 5 grandchildren; Baylee & Sage Utterback, Camron Utterback, Brayden Utterback and Haylee Utterback.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl “Dale” Utterback and mother, Shirley Utterback.
Ronnie’s last wishes were to be cremated and that there be no memorial service at this time due to social circumstances. If these circumstances change maybe spring or summer will be a more appropriate time.
Indiana Memorial was honored to serve the Utterback family.
