William Jesse Roberts passed away peacefully, comforted by family on December 30, 2021. He was 52.
Bill was born to Linda and Russell Roberts Senior on October 21, 1969 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a caring son, a loyal brother, a dedicated father, a loving uncle, a deeply devoted grandfather, and a faithful friend. His parents, younger sister (Penny), older brothers (Fred and Russ), oldest son (Jake), grandson (Caiden) and all of his family and friends will miss Bill dearly. Bill was preceded in death by his youngest son, Ryan — Bill loved Ryan with all of his heart. His grandson Caiden (Ryan’s son), brought so much light and joy to Bill’s world. Caiden will always be Bill’s buddy. Bill loved his family with unshakable devotion. This was demonstrated not only by his words but by his actions and affection.
Bill graduated from Whiteland Community Highschool in 1988. He was athletic and had a fiercely competitive spirit from the very beginning. He enjoyed playing all sports such as football, baseball, and basketball. While growing up, Bill admired his older brothers and loved to hang out with them at the Gorman Boys Club. He was a fan of the Colts, Pacers, Norte Dame football, and IU basketball. He later became a passionate golfer. You could always find Bill at the driving range hitting golf balls on a warm Indiana day. Bill also enjoyed playing poker with his closest friends. He laughed with an unmatched energy. If Bill could spend all day making his family and friends laugh and smile, he would. To Bill, his best friends were his family, and his family were his best friends; they were one and the same. Those nearest to him describe Bill as having the biggest heart. He was a compassionate listener and always offered a shoulder to lean on.
Bill worked hard to become a highly-regarded and well-respected general manager in the restaurant and service industry. He was a talented manager with the remarkable ability to joke with his employees, lead them, and always get the job done. His unique skills were sought after by others in the industry. Bill took great pride in his work. Everywhere he went, both in his professional and personal life, Bill developed and maintained bonds with those around him. He was valued, admired, reliable, and cherished. His presence was always felt, and his absence hits hard. We will all miss our beloved Bill.
The family welcomes you to join us in mourning and to celebrate Bill’s life. On Friday, January 7, 2022, a viewing will be held from 12-6 pm at Indiana Memorial Cremation and Funeral Care in Trafalgar, Indiana (3039 W. County Rd. 300 S. Trafalgar, IN). Service will start at 6 pm at the same location.
Time marches on, but it does not leave Bill behind. When a joke is told at the card table, remember Bill. Remember his smile, remember his distinct laugh, and remember his witty humor. When you pass by a golf course, remember Bill. Remember his silly mulligans and his triple-bogeys. Remember how hard he would practice and how he loved the game. Remember the little things. The petty things. The funny things. Remember the highs and remember the lows. Remember how thoughtful he was and how he cared with such intensity for his parents, brothers, sister, sons, and grandson. He would never forget the people he loved. And now, we will never forget him. Your memories are the memories that keep Bill alive and with you—with us. Forever.
