In memory of Zella Lents, please try to make a conscience effort to be patient with someone who suffers from memory loss, take the time to communicate with someone in the manner they will understand and remember to be happy for the moments we are all given.
Zella Beatrice Lents died on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the age of 84 with family at her bedside. She was born on December 14,1935 in Burkesville, Kentucky to Roscoe and Ella Melton.
Zella was preceded in death by her loving and dedicated spouse of 59 years, Tony “Max”, her beloved oldest daughter Donna, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Zella is survived by her children Debbie (Lee) Crawford, Mark (Heather) Lents, Rick (Cindy) Lents, John (Dawn) Lents, Paul (Amy) Lents and Jason (Jamie) Lents; all her beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren and Zella’s best friend and older sister Dolly (Tony) Hunter.
Zella was blessed with multiple extended family members, nieces, nephews and cousins, previous neighbors and lifelong friendships. She was a proud member of the deaf community and before her illness had enjoyed socializing at the Deaf Club.
Zella was a “get up and go type of gal” pretty much would go riding around in the car, visiting family and friends and before being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease would even be ready “anytime” to go on a motorcycle ride. She very much enjoyed sitting outdoors and watching the birds, sitting on the porch swing with Deb and helping with the garden as able. During the summer months sitting in the sun or out in the heat never detoured her from visiting and enjoying the outdoors and during the gardening season(s) she never turned down garden onions or fresh green beans!
The Lents family would like to thank Amy at Options Hair Salon and Altavise and Ashley at Polished Nails for their gentle touch and patience during Zella’s visits. The family would also like to thank the staff at Right at Home and Premier Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
Zella is in the care of Indiana Memorial Cremation 3562 W. 10th Street
A Celebration of Life will take place later, with invitations to family and friends along with Zella’s dear friends in the Deaf community. The family has asked that any Memorial contributions please be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Indiana Memorial is honored to serve the Lents Family.
